Free Caribbean parade kicks off festival
DETROIT — Detroit Eastern Market will host its first World Groove at Eastern Market Music Festival June 30 from 12 p.m.-12 a.m. This event will feature a cultural explosion of Caribbean music, cuisine and festivities as well as visual and performing arts.
A free Caribbean parade will kick off the World Groove event, beginning on Russell at I-375 and ending at Wilkins in front of the festival stage. Parade participants representing the various islands of the Caribbean will be dancing to the sound of Calypso, Soca, Reggae, African, Haitian, Latin and Steelband music.

- 1 p.m. Gratitude Steel Band
- 2 p.m. Ras Kente and The Take No Prisoners Posse
- 4 p.m. Bombarica Puerto Rican Dance Troupe
- 5:30 p.m. Akoben
- 7 p.m. Dubtonic Kru
- 8:30 p.m. Indika Reggae Band
- 10:30 p.m. Universal Expression
Tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family. Individuals can also purchase a World Groove at Eastern Market T-shirt for $20 and receive a free admission ticket to the music festival.
