NASA visits DPS

NASA visits DPSStaff report Detroit Youth Report’s Detroit Life Coalition will host monthly meetings with educators, parents and concerned citizens about improving Detroit Public Schools. According to organizers, Detroit students have been denied educational success due to poor educational policies. Current policies blame teachers, parents and students, not “broken school systems.” The Life Coalition will host community events, dubbed the Detroit Public School Listening Project, that document the experience of Detroit families. Organizers say they hope to mobilize national organizing efforts and unify voices of an emerging national education organizing network that is working to address institutional racism and working to transform schools and neighborhoods into safe and prosperous communities. The next meeting will be held at Fellowship Chapel, 7707 W Outer Dr, Detroit, MI 48235. This event takes place on August 16 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The DPSLP is free with registration.
