Isle dead, Riverwalk rocks

By Sam Riddle Special to the Michigan Citizen America is not at work on Belle Isle. Fear is not a recreational pursuit. Belle Isle was bare of Detroit on Mother’s Day even as Detroit rocked the Riverwalk by the thousands, family intact as we got a great view of one another. My scouting mission revealed a naked Belle Isle, dead with no car trunks up kicking the rhythm of the D — no nothing except the blue cars of the occupying army daring us to enter. Belle Isle empty on Mothers Day
SAM RIDDLE PHOTO[/caption] It’s time for a Bridge Party to honor those Black folk killed in 1943 by racist rabid whites who blocked the McArthur Bridge so we couldn’t leave. We need to honor those killed, including honorably discharged Black American World War II veterans who were among the victims of a white riot based upon the same genre of white privilege that allows the concrete defacing of nature by Penske’s toy cars spewing noxious fumes while white environmentalists are silent. Memorial Day is always an appropriate time to honor the dead. Just saying… They’ve taken Belle Isle, the water, our vote, our nickel-and-dime petty leadership, even taken our schools. We must not let them have our minds, humanity and what dignity is left. The teacher with the broom put a face on the failure of Governor Snyder’s EAA and has her job back thanks to people saying no to the dysfunctional EAA. How do we save our children from the same EAA that continues to fail them evidenced by plummeting test scores? Thanks to the Michigan Citizen editor Zenobia Jeffries, we now know Detroit has become a recycling depository port-a-john of sorts for educators who have failed elsewhere, whether it is chancellor Covington, who was run out of Kansas City after Kansas City schools lost their accreditation or Pershing principal Greg King who fled Seattle schools without notice and was hired by the former Seattle Superintendent who was picked up on educational waivers by EAA after being fired in Seattle. Clearly this “dump the rejects in Detroit” movement is an EAA syndrome Detroiters need to reject. Let’s see if we can force an intervention for those boys who were fighting to get them out of that “for-profit prison pipeline” because they are in it for sure. And for what it’s worth, parents don’t get a pass for sending disrespectful children to school. We must never let haters cause us to lose hope or dislike ourselves and never let haters make you weak in your faith. Keep the faith. Stay on the battlefield.
