The Spirit of Giving Awards saluted the commitment and dedication of five “givers:” U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Stephen Henderson, editor of the Detroit Free Press; Joyce Hayes Giles, DTE foundation; Randy Scott, an educator and nationally renowned saxophonist and Dee Dee Odom, MGM Grand-Detroit director of community affairs. The Franklin-Wright Settlements was the first such program founded in Michigan (in 1881) and the state’s oldest. Gala proceeds will support after school enrichment — a teen center for junior and high school students and a summer enrichment program which will allow children to keep pace academically. For more information regarding Franklin-Wright settlements visit www.franklinwright.org or call 313.579.1000.
