CCS initiative in search of local artist for 40K grant, project
An application extension has been given to visual artists with hopes to be a part of a public arts initiative from the College for Creative Studies, attracting Michigan based artists to a program that develops high quality art in Detroit neighborhoods needing a boost of color and creativity.
The deadline for filing a Request for Qualification application for the CPAD (community+public arts:DETROIT) : New Urban Places program is now Friday, July 25 at 12 p.m. Applicants submitting information about their past art creations and visions for public outdoor art installations can then become qualified in the future to receive a grant from the program. Four neighborhoods in Detroit have been scheduled to receive grants of up to $40,000 for new art projects, and qualified artists are eligible to receive a portion for their project.
The goal of CPAD is to make art more accessible to the public, engaging residents directly in their neighborhood. Projects with environmentally beneficial elements will be favored, with partnerships coming from Greening of Detroit and the Detroit Future City Implementation Office. The target neighborhoods include Brightmoor, Cody Rouge, Jefferson/Chalmers and North End.
