DETROIT POLICE / CRIME REPORT2nd Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 12:50 p.m. in the 14800 block of Marlowe, narcotics crews conducted a raid. Officers arrested one suspect and recovered five packs of heroin, four bags of cocaine and other narcotic paraphernalia. The suspect was taken to the Detroit Detention Center for processing without incident. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the Plymouth/Coyle area, officers from the 2nd precinct were on patrol when they stopped a silver ‘01 Pontiac for a traffic violation. Officers observed several pills scattered on the vehicle’s floor board. Officers ultimately recovered and confiscated 401 Xanax pills, one bag of marijuana and over $500 cash. The suspect (driver of the vehicle) was ticketed, arrested and conveyed to the Detroit Detention Center for processing without incident. 4th Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the Whittaker/Central area, officers from the G.I.S.T. unit were on surveillance of the area when one of the officers observed a suspect place a rifle down his pants. The officer notified his partners to his observation and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The rifle was recovered and the suspect was transported to the Detroit Detention center for processing. 6th Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 19 at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the 23500 block of Seven Mile, officers on patrol investigated a suspect for blocking the entrance and exit way of the gas station with his black 1997 Chevy Camaro. Upon investigation, officers recovered a clear plastic bag containing one chunk of suspected crack, 16 lotto wraps of suspected heroin and five Ziploc bags of suspected powder cocaine. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Detroit Detention Center without incident. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 19 at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of Mettetal, officers from the 6th Precinct were traveling southbound on Mettetal when they observed a 2004 grey Pontiac parked in front of the location occupied by two people. As the officers’ vehicle got closer to the suspect’s vehicle, the driver of the vehicle began making sudden movements and positioning his body as though he was retrieving an object from his waistband. The officer also observed the suspect (driver) reaching toward the center console. Officers stopped to investigate and asked if everything was OK and if any weapons were in the car. The suspect of the vehicle informed the officers that he had a registered firearm. Upon further investigation, the officers determined that the handgun was not registered. The suspect was arrested and conveyed to the Detroit Detention Center for processing without incident. 8th Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 19 at approximately 12 p.m. in the Six Mile/Lahser area, officers working patrol from the 8th Precinct observed the suspect standing on the side of the Citgo gas station (a known narcotic area). As the officers pulled up to the gas station, the suspect began behaving suspiciously; looking at the officers, walking away and grabbing the right side of his waistband. The suspect was detained and investigated. Upon investigation, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the suspect. Upon further investigation, officers recovered one sandwich bag containing 16 small bags of suspected marijuana from the suspect. The suspect was arrested and conveyed to the Detroit Detention Center for processing. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 6:45 p.m. in the Eight Mile/Cherrylawn area, officers from the 8th Precinct were on surveillance for narcotic activity. The officers observed two suspects make a narcotic/cash exchange. The suspects were taken into custody without incident and taken to the Detroit Detention Center for processing. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the I-94/Southfield area, officers from the commercial auto theft section were on surveillance for a carjacked vehicle. They observed the carjacked vehicle being followed by a blue Honda Accord. Michigan State Police attempted to stop the carjacked vehicle, but it fled. MSP was able to stop the blue Honda Accord. Three suspects in the vehicle were in possession of a handgun and crack, which were confiscated. All three suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Detroit Detention Center. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 9:20 p.m. in the 14300 block of Chapel, narcotics officers conducted a raid and recovered 29 folds of heroin, two bags of marijuana and over $1,270 cash. One suspect was arrested at the location for the possession of the narcotics. Other narcotic paraphernalia was also confiscated. The suspect was taken to the Detroit Detention Center for processing, without incident. 9th Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 19 at approximately 12:25 a.m. in the 13000 block of Houston-Whittier, officers from the Tactical Response Unit were patrolling the area of Houston-Whittier and Dickerson when they observed a Black male of youthful appearance, walking in the area past curfew hours. As the officers stopped to investigate, the suspect fled on foot. The officers were able to detain the suspect. Upon investigation, officers recovered a .32 Colt blue steel revolver handgun with six live rounds. The suspect was arrested and conveyed to the Detroit Detention Center for processing without incident. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the Bringard/Boulder area, officers were on patrol when they passed a vehicle having a strong odor of marijuana. The officers made a traffic stop and observed a scale lying on the rear floorboard and several small Ziploc bags scattered throughout the center console. The suspect was detained and investigated, officers recovered one Ziploc bag of suspected marijuana, one Ziploc bag suspected heroin, one Ziploc bag of suspected crack, one Ziploc bag of suspected cocaine and multiple empty Ziploc bags common with packaging and selling of narcotics. The suspect was arrested and conveyed to the Detroit Detention Center for processing without incident. CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the 19000 block of Morang, officers received information from the 9th precinct investigative operation unit, about a suspect who was wanted for a non-fatal shooting incident that occurred on March 18, 2014. The officers proceeded to the 19000 block of Morang where they located and identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested and conveyed to the Detroit Detention Center for processing without incident. 12th Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 19 at approximately 11:40 p.m. in the 18600 block of Griggs, officers from the 12th Precinct responded to a residence. Victim #1 informed officers that the suspect (boyfriend) became irate and physically assaulted her daughter Victim #2, then pulled a rifle on her and threatened to kill her. The suspect left the location prior to officers’ arrival but returned. The weapon was recovered. The officers arrested the suspect and transported him to the Detroit Detention Center for processing. 13th Precinct CIRCUMSTANCES: On March 20 at approximately 12 a.m. in the Pallister/Lodge area, officers on patrol were following a Maroon Chrysler Sebring occupied by two suspects southbound on Rosa Parks. A check of the vehicle was conducted and determined the vehicle was stolen. As the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the stolen vehicle accelerated and a short vehicle pursuit occurred. Both suspects were ultimately arrested and transported to the Detroit Detention Center without incident.
