Detroit pastors, silent on EM, gather to suppress gay rights

[new_royalslider id="36"] Jayne Rowse and April DeBoer, two women, are challenging Michigan laws in federal court, fighting for the right to marry and adopt children together. If their case, which began Feb. 25, before the U.S. District Court in Detroit is successful, gay marriage could be legalized in the state. A coalition of approximately 100 Black pastors from Detroit pledged to lead a march against what they said is a threat to their voting rights. No such coalition formed to protest the passage of PA 436, the Emergency Manager Law, which has effectively disenfranchised half of the state’s Black population and all Detroiters. Final arguments were made in the case on March 7. Presiding Judge Bernard Friedman believes he will make a decision in the next two weeks.
