Angelo B. Henderson, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, radio host, community activist, and associate minister at Triumph Church, has joined the ancestors. Rev. Henderson, 51, died of natural causes. “A giant tree in the forest of humanity has fallen,” remarked Rev. Solomon Kinloch, Jr., senior pastor of Triumph Church. “Metro Detroit’s loss is now Heaven’s gain.” Rev. Henderson joined Triumph Church in 2010. As director of Evangelism and Outreach at Triumph Church, he coordinated evangelism and community outreach initiatives, including existing partnerships with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Forgotten Harvest, and various support groups facilitated by physicians from Detroit Medical Center and Community Network Services. “His larger than life personality is visible through his time as an award-winning journalist and radio host,” said Rev. Kinloch. “But internally, we also knew Angelo to be a tireless worker behind the scenes whose heart for people in metropolitan Detroit drove him to do monumental things in support of the community. Today, Triumph Church not only lost a part of our team, we lost a member of the family.” Funeral services will be held Mon., Feb. 24, 11 a.m. at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit, 23500 W. 7 Mile Rd. The family hour will be held at 10 a.m. Internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit. Public viewing will be held Sat., Feb. 22 and Sun., Feb. 23, 12-8 p.m. at Swanson Funeral Home, 14751 W. McNichols Rd., Detroit.
